Aerated Wastewater Treatment Systems (AWTS)
Our best seller, the Aqua Nova Wastewater Treatment System (AWTS) is the leading AWTS on the market. We've been installing Aqua Novas for 20 years now, so we know it works!
Aqua Nova is Australian owned and made and is an affordable long-term solution for your waste water demands. The water that is recycled through this system is 100% safe for re-use on your garden, or lawn area. The Aqua Nova AWTS is designed to treat all of the wastewater from your laundry, kitchen and bathroom so it can be safely reused in garden irrigation. Required for properties that do not have access to main sewer lines and uses similar processes and technologies to that of the sewage treatment plants used in large townships and cities. All Aqua Nova wastewater systems meet the National Standard AS/NZS1546.3 and have undergone a stringent testing program. |

Septic Tanks and Rubble Drains
The old faithful of country waste water disposal. All of the waste is collected into the septic tank then overflows into the rubble drain as “black water”. A long trench is installed and the water is disposed into this area, where it transpires back into the ground.
Is your septic tank still OK, but the disposal area needs attention? That’s OK, we can just rebuild the rubble drain. Depending on your soil type, we can rebuild almost anywhere. Although the size of the trenches will vary, the heavier the soil (clay, black soil etc), the bigger the trenches will need to be. |

How does the Aqua Nova AWTS system work?A standard Aqua Nova has two tanks. The first tank allows for the separation of solids and greases, while in the second tank the settled wastewater is aerated and clarified. When required, the clarified wastewater is disinfected before being pumped to the irrigation area.
Why should I choose a two-tank system? Two tank systems provide a barrier between raw waste water and the treated effluent. This results in a safe, reliable system. The raw waste water and clean recycled water will never mix.
Why does the Aqua Nova system need to be serviced? As with all of your assets, your Aqua Nova requires servicing and maintenance to keep your system operating at its highest standard and in tip-top condition. Government regulators require the system to be serviced every three months. Septic & Sewer Solutions are trained and experienced in servicing your systems to keep them operating at their optimal level.
What kind of cleaning products can I use?Standard cleaning products usually cause no problem to the operation of an Aqua Nova®. As the system is biological, owners must use of bleaches and disinfectants sparingly.
Can I use the water from the Aqua Nova system in my home? No. Treated effluent can only be used to irrigate the area specified by planning documents.
Can I turn the system off?No, the system should not be turned off at any time. So long as the system is on, you can have extended periods of non-usage without causing any disruption to the system.
How long does it take to install?Great news is we're in and out in just one day!

Where is the Aqua Nova system made? The Aqua Nova system is proudly manufactured in Australia by an Australian family owned company. No royalties are paid to overseas companies and all profits are retained in Australia.
What is the resulting water quality?Aqua Nova manufactures several different models that achieve different qualities of treated effluent. This provides our customers with a choice that allows our systems to be installed in most locations in Australia. The minimum water quality requirement will have a BOD5 and Suspended Solids of than less than 20mg/L and 30mg/L respectively. Disinfection, filtration and/or membrane systems can be fitted to provide water quality of less than 10mg/L BOD5, 10mg/L Suspended Solids and 10CFU/100ml E.Coli. Nutrient reduction systems are also available.
Can I upgrade an existing septic or wastewater system? As long as the septic tank has an operating volume of 3,000 ptrs or more, and is of sound condition, then it may be possible to simply have the aeration tank installed immediately behind the septic tank.
If you're looking at having your septic tank upgraded, please contact Septic & Sewer Solutions so we can assess your septic tank for suitability, assess your site and help you with the necessary application to council. How loud is the system? When operating and maintained correctly, the noise that comes from an Aqua Nova® is barely noticeable.
Does it smell?Systems that are operated as per the Owner’s Manual and are appropriately maintained will not smell.
Can I hide the lids underground? No. Lids cannot be hidden underground as they are used to provide safe access to the system during maintenance
